STORING YOUR JAGUA CONE
If you have purchased a Jagua cone please ensure you store the cone in the freezer. The Jagua cone will perish if left out especially in warm environments. When you would like to use the cone leave it to thaw on a counter top for 30-50 minutes and then you are good to go! All Jagua cones will last up to 6 months to a year when stored in a freezer.
ABOUT JAGUA
Jagua is a fruit found in South America in the Amazon Rainforest. Several native South American tribes have used this fruit to create decorative patterns on the skin, which also provides other benefits such as preventing mosquito bites. The stain of this amazing fruit varies between a blue to black shade, which is very similar to the result of needle ink permanent tattoos. Jagua has only recently become increasingly popular to the rest of the world for its stain capabilities and many people have used it as either an alternative to permanent tattoos or an alternative to black henna, as it is much safer and natural.
JAGUA AFTERCARE
Please ensure you leave the Jagua paste on for a minimum of 3 hours and remove by washing with warm/cold soapy water. The longer you leave the paste/gel on the longer the stain will last. Some of my clients have left their Jagua paste on their skin for 24 hours and have had their stain last 2.5 weeks (please note every persons results and longevity will be different). Jagua's longevity is the same as henna and lasts 1-3 weeks depending on your aftercare and how long the paste/gel is left on for.
Please do not sleep with the paste on unless this design is covered with mefix or hypafix tape. This should only be applied when the Jagua has completed dried as the design could smudge or smear if the jagua has not enitrely dried. Mefix tape should be avoided if the area is prone to sweating as this can smudge the design. Uncovered Jagua designs can easily smudge and transfer so please do be careful and make sure you do not touch any areas of your face. Jagua will first appear very faint or sometimes no stain will appear after removal but please do not worry or panic the paste will start to develop within 12 hours starting with a faint light blue green or grey till it matures to a dark blue shade. Jagua reaches its peak stain development between 24-48 hours after gel removal.
Jagua stain will vary on different people but the longer you leave it on the darker the stain. Another factor which affects the stain result is your skin tone. The darker the skin tone the more darker blue/black the Jagua will appear whereas the lighter the skin tone the more bright blue it will appear.
Please avoid hot water or any excessive amount of heat at all costs as this can speed up the oxidation process which can cause sensitivity and rashes to the area especially for those with sensitive skin and DO NOT cover the area in cling film.
To ensure your stain lasts long please avoid water/scrubbing the area Jagua has been applied to and when you are using water please use gloves (washing dishes) or apply a thin layer of aftercare balm. This will protect your design from washing off easily. Please keep your skin hydrated by drinking lots of water and moisturising. As soon as your skin renews and flakes the design will slowly disappear. If you will be doing any activities which lead to perspiration please apply a deodorant prior to carrying out those activities.
Please note there is a 2% chance that you can develop a reaction to Jagua even after years of application. This can be the case with most natural products.
If you do have any questions about your Jagua application and stain please don't hesitate in messaging me and I'd be happy to help.
DIFFERENT STAIN RESULTS
Jagua stains differently on everyone as not everyone is the same. On very rare occasions some people may not stain with Jagua at all or have a very faint result. There are so many different factors to think of to reach the best possible stain results but here are a few things which can affect your Jagua stain result:
Different skin tones can affect the outcome of the shade of henna. The darker the skintone the darker the Jagua stain becomes.
Chemistry and Lifestyle, things such as medication or certain illnesses can affect the stain result.
Several activities such saunas, scrubbing/exfoliation, bathing, and swimming can decrease the longevity of the stain.
Stains located in certain regions of the body such as the torso, legs, and arms last longest, however stains on thicker skin such as the feet and hands stain the darkest.
